Allow me to humbly introduce myself as host of this interactive site. My name is Rachel Marascalco. I am a married mother of 2 hilarious and entertaining children. I began my career in real estate in 2005. In 2008, just prior to the economic recession and after the birth of my second child I decided to stay home with my children. As my children grew into adolescence and their need for me waned I found myself itching to get back into the market. In 2016 I was relicensed and decided to place my license, inactively, with what was then Hodnett Cooper Real Estate…..6 hours away from where I lived at the time. So, now the rest of the story….

My family and I began vacationing on St. Simons Island in 2008. We immediately fell in love with the history, ecosystem and lifestyle of the locals. Year after year we returned as frequently as possible. Finally, in 2014, after already beginning to establish roots and friendships, we purchased our first home to be used as a vacation home and investment property. Within a year it quickly became apparent that we were spending more time (and money!) here than we were in our hometown of Gainesville, Georgia.

By May of 2016 we had sold our North Georgia home and HVAC business and purchased a second property on SSI and made the move final. It was a HUGE and terrifying leap of faith. But we knew we would not rest until we could say that we had pursued our goal; a goal that was supposed to be a 10 year plan but came to fruition in 2!

In May of 2017 we accomplished a second, more pipe dream goal when my husband, Captain Robert, purchased Coastal Island Charter Fishing.

Although the transition has not always been easy -we’ve wanted to give up more than once!- the reward in organic friendships and a laid-back coastal lifestyle is unsurpassed. Many days I find myself pondering that reality that I’ve landed in such an amazing place. Join us!!
